Checking in an edited document

This topic describes how to check in a document or graphic that was checked out for editing.

About this task

Use the check in tool that is appropriate for your editor to store an object in the Contenta database. This option is only available for objects that were previously exported and locked using the check out tool that is appropriate for your editor. When checking in, note the following:
  • the data in the file you check in is imported into the object and rewrites (replaces) all data currently in the object in the project
  • object’s locks are removed, and a project lock is applied
  • if the object being checked-in is a binary object, the file is re-written to the database whether or not it has been modified. Binary files are not stored in incremental updates; instead, the whole file is stored, which may result in your database growing unnecessarily if no changes are made to the document

Procedure

  1. In the list view, right-click the locked document or graphic that you checked out, click more, and then click one of the following options:
    • Arbortext Check In
    • FrameMaker Check In
    • XMetaL Check In
    • Content Check In
  2. Browse to the directory that contains the files you have modified, click the directory, and then click OK.
  3. Click Check In.
Contenta Web checks the document in and removes the file lock.
