Configuring Contenta for LDAP

Configuring Contenta for LDAP causes all data in the password table of the Contenta database to be overwritten and directs the application to the LDAP server(s) for user authentication.

If you want to configure Contenta for LDAP, also note the following:

  • Single sign-on support is not considered a part of this task.
  • If you use LDAP:
    • PcmPortal prohibits user passwords from being changed through a Contenta interface.
    • Contenta Explorer does not display the Password field in the desktop’s Property Sheet.
    • existing Contenta customers using Parlance 2.5 compatibility mode must use the internal passwords for their 2.5 tools. Therefore the xyldap_setup.sql script which removes internal passwords should not be run.
    • Contenta does not authenticate user names or password containing accented alphabetic characters, that is, alphabetic characters outside the ranges a-z and A-Z, such as ë or ñ.
