Troubleshooting custom passwords

This topic describes the resolution of some issues you may experience when working with custom passwords.

Issue/Problem: You lose/delete the XyConfig.bin file with all the passwords.

Resolution: Recreate the file using the dbpwdmgr utility, create option—see theCreate Password Procedure.

Issue/Problem: You cannot remove an entry from the encrypted XyConfig.bin file because you forget existing password.

Resolution: Remove the file and recreate it using the dbpwdmgr, Create Password Procedure.

Issue/Problem: "INFO: A password for the database is not set in the password file. Using default database password."

Resolution: This stdout error is reported when the database password does not exist in the XyConfig.bin file, add the password to the XyConfig.binfile using dbpwdmgr, Create Password Procedure.

Issue/Problem: "Can't open password file"

Resolution: This stdout error is reported when the XyConfig.bin file does not exists; create the XyConfig.bin file and add the passwords using The dbpwdmgr Utility, Create Password Procedure. Make certain to also add default passwords; see Responding to the dbpwdmgr Utility Prompts for default user names.

Issue/Problem: Oracle/MSSQL (database) error

Resolution: The password file does not contain the correct password. Use the dbpwdmgr to re-enter the password.
