Using file-mapped Dynamic Import
This task describes how to import files into Contenta with the default .dim file using the Dynamic Import tool.
Before you begin
Procedure
- In the Actions column, next to the object into which you want to import the files, click the wrench icon.
New objects containing the data in the imported files will be created under this object.
- Click Dynamic Import.
If your network administrator has allowed use of applets, you are prompted whether you want to accept the applet. If you click No, you are limited to importing one file at a time. We recommend that you click Yes.
A Dynamic Import window appears.
- To import files into the objects as defined in the default simple.dim file, click Add... to locate and select the files (or directory containing the files) to import. You can click Add... to import additional files.
Tip: To select several consecutive files-click on the first file, hold the Shift key down and click on the last file. To select several non-consecutive files-hold the Ctrl key down while clicking on the files.
- Click OK.
- Click Import.
If you accepted the applet, an AppletFile Upload window appears where you must confirm the file selection and import.
If you did not accept the applet, the Dynamic Import window appears and the import begins. Clicking Exit in the Dynamic Import window after the import begins does not cancel the process; the window closes but the import continues.
Status messages appear during the import process. When the import is complete, an Import status: Import completed successfully (with date and time) message appears in the Dynamic Import window. The date and time reported in the import complete status is the date and time from the Contenta web server. This is notable if your web server is in a time zone different from your time zone.
If the import fails, click the log file from the drop down list, and then click Display to view the error message.
- Click Exit.
Important: If you get The file transfer failed. No files found on server to import message when importing large amounts of data, you must increase the size of the Java memory on the web server.
