Contenta Explorer Window

Contenta employs a Windows Explorer-like interface so you can navigate through the hierarchy as you would in Windows Explorer.

Users have a limited view of, and access to, the database. The System Administrator has a full view of, and full access to, the database, including access to all users’ desktops. The System Administrator’s desktop view is unique from all other users.
  • The Hierarchy Display Area shows the hierarchy of container objects in the database to which you have access. When you login to Contenta, the contents of your desktop appear in the hierarchy display area. Your desktop is a container object which appears at the top of the hierarchy. Your inbox is a container where work assigned to you appears. The inbox container is optional, if you do not have one, work assigned to you appears directly on (under) your desktop. If work is sent to a workpool of which you are a member, the work appears under the workpool container. The user can have access to the configuration (Config) object which contains all data objects in the database if the sysadmin places it on a user’s desktop. In this case, it is typically a read-only copy and data in it cannot be modified. It may be used for reference only. Users can modify data when it appears in their inbox or under the workpool.
  • The Object Display Area displays the contents of the object selected in the hierarchy display area. Click on a container in the object display area to display its contents in the object display area.
  • The Information Display Area shows information about the object selected in the hierarchy or object display areas. For example, workflows, object histories, and Contenta notes display in the information display area Some commands can only be accessed from the information display area. For example, you can only view, delete, or create notes (when the Notes tab is selected) from this display window. The information displayed in the Information Display Area varies depending on the type of object selected and the tab (beneath the display area) which is chosen. To to hide or re-display the information pane choose: View > Info

The command is a toggle switch.
