Installing the MSSQL client

If using an MSSQL database for Contenta, erform these steps on the client workstations that are to be used for Contenta administrative functions.

About this task

For Windows 32-bit clients, install Microsoft SQL Server 2016 SP1 32-bit client with ODBC driver, native client.

Before installing the Contenta software, configure the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC Data Source.

Procedure

  1. Make sure that the Firewall is turned off or that the MSSQL port is open.
  2. In the Windows Control Panel, click Administrative Tools > Data Sources.
  3. On the System DSN tab, click Add.
  4. Click SQL Native Client.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. In the Create a New Data Source to SQL window, enter a Data Source Name and Description, then select the Server.
  7. Click Next.
  8. Under How should SQL server verify the authenticity of the login ID? click With SQL Server authentication using a login ID and password entered by the user.
  9. Click Next.
  10. Accept the defaults (Use ANSI quoted identifiers, and Use ANSI nulls, paddings and warning) in the resulting window and click Next.
  11. Accept the defaults in the resulting window (Perform translation for character data and default paths in long running queries... and ODBC driver... fields), and then click Finish.
