User Desktops
Users must have a desktop to execute the Contenta application and access the database.
About this task
The System Administrator (sysadmin user) creates desktops on the sysadmin desktop. Since the Project Manager (projman user) does not have access to the sysadmin desktop, only the sysadmin can create user desktops. The option to create desktops is dimmed when you are logged in as the projman. The desktops are on the same hierarchical level as the data hierarchy.
Procedure
- Select the sysadmin desktop
- Click File > New Desktop.
- Choose the type of desktop to create.
There are two types of user desktops: projman and default. The projman is a user with responsibilities and tools necessary to manage a ContentRoutingProject or its child objects and a standard Project. A projman user is created with a special (projman) desktop. Other users have the standard default desktops.
Note: If you have created custom desktops, they should appear under the File > New Desktop option.A new desktop window appears.
- Enter data in the Property Sheet for the new desktop as described in the following table.
Field Description Name Enter the name of the desktop as it should appear in the Contenta Explorer window. This field cannot be changed after creation.
Login Name Enter the name which the user enters to log in to Contenta. The Login Name is case-sensitive, and cannot be changed after creation.
Password Enter a password for the user specified in the Login Name field. The password is not displayed; a series of asterisks appears when the password is entered.
Note: After the desktop is created, the number of asterisks do not necessarily correspond to the number of characters in the password. The Password is case-sensitive. The Password field is editable by the sysadmin after creation and may be changed by the sysadmin user. If you want to change your password, contact your sysadmin user to do so.
Ver Password Re-enter the password. This is required to verify that the password was entered correctly in the Password field.
Note: If the password is changed after the desktop is created, you must enter the new password in this field also.Note:- Do not use periods (.) in the Name, Login, or Password fields. Although the application does not fault when creating the desktop, the user will not be able to login. The application will display an Invalid User/Password error message.
- If the user does not enter the username or password correctly when the logging in to the application, an “Invalid User/ Password“ error message appears.
Roles Choose the user’s role from the drop-down list. Click in the text box next to the role you want to assign to the user. More than one role can be assigned to a user.
Names of users are displayed in the ContentRoutingProject or Project workflow Team Members window for tasks to which their role is assigned.
Users with proper permissions can change the Roles field after creation.
User Toolbox By default, this field is displayed only when creating projman desktops and desktops based on it. Enter name of the toolbox. Contenta is delivered with the sysadmin, projman, and desktop toolboxes. The desktop toolbox is automatically assigned to the default desktop.
To assign a different, or custom toolbox to a default desktop, you must display the User Toolbox field for the Desktop object. Execute pcmadmin in singleuser mode and select the object desktop, select (display) the Property Sheet and change the Display field for the User Toolbox to Yes.
Users with proper permissions can change the User Toolbox after creation.
