What's new and changed in SmartTarget 2014 SP1

This section describes what is new and what has changed in SmartTarget 2014 SP1 with regard to the previous version of SmartTarget (SmartTarget 2014).

Content Experiments
An Experiment defines variations of content (Content Variants) to display in a region of a Web page. The Content Variants are displayed randomly to Web site visitors within a given time frame. The objective of an Experiment is to see which Content Variant performed the best (resulted in the most conversions).
For an overview of how to create, test and go live with Experiments, see Getting started with Experiments
Manage Experiments rights
The Manage Experiments right has been added: to manage Experiments, users require Manage Promotions right and Manage Experiment right. You set these rights for Users and User Groups on a Target Type.
For more information, see Setting Manage Promotions and Manage Experiments rights.
Experiment Statistics
SmartTarget uses Google Analytics to track Content Experiments running in your Web sites and generate statistics on the data collected. To track Experiments running in your Web sites, you need to:
  • set up a Google Analytics account and create a development Project.
  • install the SmartTarget Google Analytics Provider on your Web sites.
  • configure your Google Analytics account in the <Analytics> element in the smarttarget_conf.xml configuration file.
For more information, see Setting up Analytics.
