Creating a Language Resource template
You can create language resource templates to ensure consistency across similar translation memories and source languages.
Procedure
- In the Translation Memories view, select File > New > Language Resource Template from the menu bar. The New Language Resource Template dialog is displayed.
- Enter a description in the Description box.
- Select the language for which you want to define language settings from Language drop-down list.
- Under Resources, select a list and click Edit. A dialog appropriate to the list type is displayed:
- If you selected the Variable List, the Variables dialog is displayed.
- If you selected the Abbreviation List, the Abbreviations dialog is displayed.
- If you selected the Ordinal Follower List, the Ordinal Followers dialog is displayed.
- If you selected the Segmentation Rules, the Segmentation Rules dialog is displayed.
- The dialog box contains the default language resource settings.
- To edit an existing variable, abbreviation or ordinal follower, double-click the entry and make the required change.
- To add a new variable, abbreviation or ordinal follower, scroll to the bottom of the existing list, double click the first empty row and add the new entry.
- To view, add or edit segmentation rules, select Segmentation Rules and click Edit. The Segmentation Rules dialog is displayed. From here you can add new rules, edit the default rules and create exceptions to the rules.
- Click OK to close the dialog.
- Repeat steps 4 - 7 for all further languages and lists you want to edit.
- When you have finished editing lists for all languages, click OK to close the New Language Resource Template dialog. The Save Language Resource Template As dialog is displayed.
Note: If you do not edit or add an entry to at least one list, SDL Trados Studio will not allow you to click OK to create a new language resource template.
- Enter a name for the language resource template in the File name box and click Save. The language resource template is saved with a
*.sdltmresource extension. The language resource template is added to the navigation pane under the Language Resource Templates folder.
