Creating a segmentation rule

You can create segmentation rules for: an existing translation memory (TM), for a file-based language resource template, and for a new translation memory. There are default segmentation rules for every language supported by SDL Trados Studio. When you create a new rule, you are creating a new TM, or you update an existing TM, or you update the language resource template that contains the rule.

About this task

When you create a new translation memory you can:
  • Accept the default segmentation rules for each language in the new translation memory.
  • Edit the default segmentation rules for the new translation memory.
