LookAhead
LookAhead is an in-memory lookup and retrieval mechanism which ensures that your translation search results are displayed fast when you activate a segment for translation.
LookAhead technology
LookAhead technology gives you fast access to multi-source translation results. LookAhead works at application level, which means that, once enabled, it applies to all the projects that you work from that point on.
Once your source text is loaded in SDL Trados Studio , the application starts matching your source text strings against its in-memory translation resources (TMs, termbases or machine translation). As a result, you are provided with translation hits for each segment, string or sentence that has matching translation results instantaneously.
Translation search results are retrieved per active segment or string, namely the segment or string you currently work on, at various speeds. LookAhead technology radically improves the retrieval speed of TM search results, especially for long or complex source text.
LookAhead by-pass mechanism
When LookAhead does not retrieve any lookups in translation or if you want to make sure you get the newest translation results, you can perform manual translation lookups.
LookAhead clear mechanism
- You decide to switch Match Repair on or off while translating
- You decide to bypass LookAhead translation results by performing manual lookups
- You disable LookAhead
- You do not finish translating the file and save it for later work
