Configuring Compound Page Templates

About this task

To configure a Compound Page Template:

Procedure

  1. Open a browser and access the Content Manager Explorer Web site for the Content Manager that contains the Compound Page Template you want to configure. You may be prompted to log in at this point.
  2. In the tree on the left, navigate to the Publication and to the Folder that contains this Compound Page Template.
  3. Open the Compound Page Template by double-clicking it, or by right-clicking it and selecting Open from the context menu.
  4. Make the following configurations as needed in the General tab:
    Name
    this is the name you gave to this item in Template Builder. You can change it if you wish.
    File Extension
    set to the file extension you want to give to the Web page you will render using this Page Template. Your Web server or Web and Application Server may handle Web pages differently based on the extension of the file. Typical values for this field include html for a plain HTML Web page, aspx for an ASP.NET Web page, and so on.
    Parameters Schema
    leave this option set to (none)
    Metadata Schema
    if you want to specify metadata for this Page Template, select a Metadata Schema that specifies which metadata fields you can fill in. If you select a Metadata Schema, the metadata fields appear under this option. You must fill in the mandatory fields before you can save the Page Template.
  5. Leave the contents of the Source tab unchanged.
  6. The contents of the Workflow and Info tabs are read-only and so require no configuration.
  7. Click Save and Close to update the Compound Page Template.
