Restructuring Keywords
Before you begin
- To move or delete a Keyword, you must have Category Management rights and Delete permissions for the Category.
- To cut and paste a Keyword, you must have Category Management rights and Write for the Category.
About this task
You can restructure your taxonomy tree by moving, deleting, and copying and pasting Keywords. The following rules apply when reorganizing your taxonomy:
- Copy and Paste:
- When you copy a Keyword, you create a copy of all items (Keyword branch) that are contained within it as well.
- Cut and Paste (moving):
- You cannot cut & paste a Keyword that is a local copy or a shared item (the Keyword must be a local item—an item created in the context Publication)
- Delete:
- You cannot delete a Keyword that is used in a Component field or Metadata field
- You cannot delete a Keyword that is a local copy or a shared item (the Keyword must be a local item—an item created in the context Publication)
Procedure
Results
The Keyword or Keyword branch is moved, copied, or deleted.
- If you just delete the Keyword, the child Keywords are moved up one level in the taxonomy tree structure.
- If you copied a Keyword, the item is renamed with the prefix "
Copy of ...because the title of a Keyword must be unique within the Category. If the Keyword has a Key, the Key value is not copied as the value must also be unique within the Category.
