Setting up UGC for SiteEdit

If you install UGC on a system that also runs SiteEdit, additional manual steps are required to make SiteEdit work again.

Procedure

  1. To make SiteEdit work with UGC installed, open IIS on the Content Manager server:
    • In IIS 6, from the Windows Start Menu, navigate to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information (IIS) Services
    • In IIS 7.5, start Server Manager and in the window that opens, navigate the tree to the node Roles > Web Server (IIS) > Internet Information (IIS) Services.
  2. Add a UGC folder to each of the SiteEdit virtual folders for Models and for Editors:
    • From the IIS tree, open the current machine, then the Sites node and then the SiteEdit 2009 SP3 node.
    • In this site, navigate to the virtual folder WebUI > Models.
    • In this virtual folder, create a new virtual folder and call it UGC.
    • From the SiteEdit site root, now navigate to the virtual folder WebUI > Editors.
    • In this virtual folder, create a new virtual folder and call it UGC.
  3. Recycle the SiteEdit Application Pool:
    • In IIS 6, navigate to Application Pools > SDL SiteEdit. Right-click and choose Recycle.
    • In IIS 7.5, in the IIS tree, select the current machine and select the node Application Pools. Select the item SDL SiteEdit in the list of Application Pools you see. On the right, click Recycle.
