Changing the Search Results Abstract

By default, the results that are shown in search include an abstract of text taken from the text that surrounds and contains the first two occurrences of the search string. You can change the abstract that is shown in the results, for example, to display the short description.

About this task

You configure this setting differently for each standard; that is, you would configure one setting for S1000D and another setting for DITA.

Procedure

  1. If you are on a Collaborative Review page, select Home in the breadcrumb trail.
    The Collaborative Review landing page appears.
  2. In the Administration Tools pane, click Manage Application.
    The Manage Application page appears.
  3. In the left pane, click Global Config.
  4. Under Customized Config, click Add Item.
  5. For Name, type search.summary.DITA
  6. For Value, type the XPath information for the elements you want to display in the search results.
    For example, to display the short description, type //shortdesc. To display the first paragraph in the topic, type //p[1].
  7. Click Save.
  8. In the left navigation pane, click Search Categories.
  9. Click Reindex.
