Activating and deactivating Tracking
In your Web sites, Online Marketing Explorer tracks the actions visitors perform on Assets in Initiatives. Online Marketing Explorer collects this tracking data so that you can monitor Initiatives by generating reports displaying various statistical data about the progress and performance of these Initiatives and individual Assets.
Before you begin
- To activate or deactivate Initiative tracking on the current Initiative, you must have Component Management rights and Write permissions for the Folder in which the Initiative resides.
- To activate or deactivate Initiative tracking on localized versions of this Initiative in Child Publications, you must have Component Management rights and Write permissions for the Folder in which the Initiative resides.
- To activate or deactivate Initiative tracking on shared versions of this Initiative in Child Publications, you must have Component Management rights and Localize permissions for the Folder in which the Initiative resides.
- You cannot activate an Initiative that is checked out by another user.
About this task
An Initiative is only tracked when it is active (between its start and end dates), when a goal has been set and when tracking is activated. You can activate or deactivate tracking for the current Initiative that you have selected or open, and for Initiatives shared or localized in Child Publications:
- If you activate tracking for an Initiative, Online Marketing Explorer sends data to the Presentation Server concerning which Assets it needs to track (to allow tracking, you must also ensure that these Assets are Published otherwise no tracking data is collected).
- If you deactivate tracking for an Initiative, Online Marketing Explorer no longer tracks an Initiative or its Assets.
You can see whether an Initiative has tracking set or not in the Publications section of the Initiatives Info tab:
