Ambient Data Framework
A Content Delivery module that provides a flexible and configurable framework for gathering and transforming all kinds of Web site data, for example information about the user visiting the Web site and information about the current user session.
Aggregation database
The database (Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server) on the Content Manager side for storing aggregated data about Web site visitors' interaction with Assets.
Asset
An Asset is an item you can add to an Initiative.
Asset Library
The Asset Library shows Entry Assets, Content Assets, and SmartTarget Assets that you can add to an Initiative.
awareness goal
A brand awareness goal is designed to drive visitors to view a specific Asset, for example a product page or a brand landing page.
BluePrint
A BluePrint establishes the relationships between Publications and enables your organization to share and manage content within multiple Publications.
Content Asset
A Content Asset is a Content Manager item—Component, Multimedia Component, or Page—that you can add to an Initiative.
downloads goal
A downloads goal is designed to get visitors to download a specific Asset such as a PDF or executable file.
Entry Asset
An Entry Asset defines the intended entry point of visitors to the Initiative.
Entry Asset Query Builder
The Entry Asset Query Builder provides a user-friendly interface to define queries for External Entry Assets.
External Entry Asset
An External Entry Asset defines a URL of a page, or parameter in the URL, of an external Web site from which visitors were directed to the Initiative.
External Referrer URL
The referrer URL of the Web site from which the user entered your Web site, for example www.google.co.uk.
Online Marketing Explorer
Online Marketing Explorer is a software module for SDL Tridion that you can use to market products or services through your online channel. You do this by creating Initiatives in the Online Marketing Explorer interface. Initiatives are tracked on your Web site and from the tracking data you can generate reports to analyze progress.
Online Marketing Dashboard
The Online Marketing Dashboard—in the Control Room screen in the Content Manager Explorer—allows marketers to keep track of all the Initiatives in the system. It displays general statistics about the performance of Initiatives and detailed statistics about the performance of individual Assets.
Online Marketing Explorer interface
The Online Marketing Explorer user interface allows marketers to create and define Initiatives, track visitors and the actions they perform on Initiative Assets, and process and display statistical data about the progress of an Initiative.
Initiative
An Initiative is an online marketing campaign. An Initiative consists of a series of Assets that share a single idea and theme. The Assets are connected together to model the ideal flow of visitors from Asset to Asset through the Initiative
Publication
Publications are the main organizational units in Content Manager that group content and layout items that represent the building blocks of a Web site.
Parent Publication
A Publication in a BluePrint that shares its content to Child Publications.
Child Publication
A Publication in a BluePrint that inherits content from Parent Publications.
Custom Entry Asset
A Custom Entry Asset is a user-defined External Entry Asset.
leads goal
A lead generation goal is designed to get visitors to enter his or her details.
localized item
An item in a Child Publication that is a local copy of a shared item.
local item
An item created in a Publication.
Predefined Entry Asset
A Predefined Entry Asset is an External Entry Asset defined at a system level and made available to all users in the Asset Library for use in Initiatives.
Promotion
A Promotion in SmartTarget defines what content should be displayed in a SmartTarget region of a Web page and when.
Query Parameter
A name-value pair in the URL (of the link clicked by the user to access your Web site) that identifies the location where the user accessed your Web site, for example channel=twitter.
reporting
Reporting allows you to track the progress of Initiatives so that you can assess the impact of an Initiative and act accordingly.
report
A report contains statistical data (pie charts, graphs, and tables) about the success or failure of an Initiative as a whole and the relative success or failure of individual Assets in the Initiative.
shared item
An item in a Child Publication that is shared from a Parent Publication.
SmartTarget Tracking cartridge
The SmartTarget Tracking cartridge gathers data about SmartTarget Promotions, the SmartTarget Page Regions in which they are displayed, and Promotional items viewed. The cartridge plugs into the Ambient Data Framework.
SmartTarget Asset
A SmartTarget Asset is a Promotion you can add to an Initiative.
statistics
Data in reports about the progress and performance of Initiatives and individual Assets in an Initiative.
Synchronization Target
A Synchronization Target synchronizes data between the Content Manager and the Presentation Server.
Target Asset
A Target Asset is the intended exit point of visitors to the Initiative defining the goal of an Initiative (what should be achieved when the visitor exits the Initiative).
tracking
Initiatives, and the actions visitors perform on Assets in Initiatives, are tracked on your Web site and from the tracking data you can generate reports to analyze progress.
Tracking cartridge
The Tracking cartridge plugs is responsible for gathering data about Web site visitors. The cartridge plugs into the Ambient Data Framework.
Tracking database
The database (Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server) on the presentation side for storing raw data about Web site visitors' interaction with Assets.
