cat is a hierarchical basetype used for classification of content items. An item must have at least one hierarchical attribute (known as categories or content hierarchy). Content items can exist in one or more locations in the content hierarchy, for example a Component can exist in a Folder, Keyword, and Structure Group category. The top level category value is called universe. Fredhopper supports only one hierarchical attribute per universe.
