Duplicating Experiments

Duplicate an Experiment when you want to rerun an Experiment using a similar set of conditions in the same Web site.

About this task

When you duplicate an Experiment, you create an exact copy of the Experiment with the same settings and Content Variants, except you need to specify a new Start and End Date and rename it. If the Experiment you want to duplicate has become invalid, the invalid settings are not copied over. You can modify any settings of the duplicated Experiment up until the Start Date has elapsed.

Procedure

  1. In the slide out navigation pane, select Targeting.

    The Targeting Dashboard appears.

  2. In the Source drop-down menu:
    1. Select a Web site for which you want to manage Experiments. For example, you will typically have a "Staging" Web site and a "Live" Web site:
      • Staging is the internal Web site where Experience Manager is set up for inline editing and testing
      • Live is your external, public-facing Web site
    2. Click the Experiments tab to view the list of Experiments available for the Web site.
A list of Experiments for which you have Manage Experiments rights is displayed.
  3. Go to the Experiment you want to duplicate and click Duplicate in the actions menu in the right-hand corner:

The Experiment is duplicated and the new Scheduled Experiment is opened.

  4. Rename the Experiment (duplicates are assigned a working title Copy of...Name).
  5. Optional: Deselect Enable this Experiment if you do not want the Experiment to be available.
  6. Select a Start Date and End Date to specify when the Experiment is active.
  7. If necessary, edit the Where, When, and What conditions:
    • Where: Publications, Page, and Page Regions
    • When: Triggers
    • What: Content Items
  8. Click Save when you have finished editing.

The Experiment is saved and the dialog closes.
