Adding an SDL TMS configuration

An SDL TMS configuration controls the job creation process, determining what file types can be included in the job, what languages can be processed, and how the tasks in the job will be handled and by whom.

Before you begin

Before defining an SDL TMS configuration you need to have defined:
  • Language Pairs
  • Workflows
  • TMS Content Types
  • TMs and TM sequences

About this task

You need to create one or more configurations on the SDL TMS depending on your Translation BluePrint and translation strategy.

Procedure

  1. Open SDL Translation Management System (SDL TMS).
  2. In your Organization > Configurations folder, click Add Configuration.
  3. Define an SDL TMS configuration:
    • Name—the name of the configuration.
    • Description—a description of the configuration and its use.
    • Active—deselect if no longer in use.
    • Private—private objects are not available to suborganizations.
    • TM Sequences—translation memory sequences specify which translation memories are applied to a task and the order in which they are applied.
    • Workflows—a Workflow defines a process for managing translations.
    • TMS Content Types—the types of content that can be processed using this configuration
    • Language Pairs—source language to target language pairs that can be processed using this configuration (each Language Pair in the configuration must specify the same source language).
  4. Click Submit.
