Adding users is one of the most important and most common operations in WorldServer. You generally add users when you first set up your environment and whenever new people become involved in your company's translation operations, regardless of their role.
About this task
WorldServer allows for an unlimited number of TransPort users. License verification is based on the users who belong to user types with TransPort-related permissions. If you assign to a user type any permissions that are not related to TransPort, these users will count against your WorldServer licenses.
Procedure
- In WorldServer, go to
- Select Add.
- On the User: New User page, do the following:
- In the Username box, enter the name that you want the user to log in with.
The user name must not be longer than 20 characters.
- In the Password and Confirm Password boxes, enter the password that you want the user to log in with.
Note: In the standard authentication model, the password must be at least seven characters long and it must not match the user name. Other types of authentication have other rules for passwords.
- In the First Name box, enter the user's first name.
- In the Last Name box, enter the user's last name (family name).
- Next to Full Name Format, select whether you want the user's last name to be displayed first or last.
- Optional: In the Email box, enter the user's email address.
- In the User Type list, select the user type to which the user belongs.
- Optional: If the user belongs to a vendor, in the Vendor list, select the vendor to which the user belongs.
Note: Vendors are associated with cost models. You can use this association to assign a cost model for scoping a project.
- In the User Interface Display Language list, select the language in which you want the WorldServer user interface to be displayed for the user.
- In the Regional Settings list, select the regional settings to be used when the user interacts with dates or numbers in WorldServer.
Note: There is no relationship between the settings configured for a user's operating system and that user's regional settings in WorldServer.
- Next to Locales, select the check boxes corresponding to the locales that you want to associate with the user.
- Optional: Next to Workgroups, select the check boxes corresponding to the workgroups to which the user belongs.
- Optional: Next to Workflow Roles, select the check boxes corresponding to the workflow roles that you want to associate with the user.
Tip: Within a workflow, you can assign to users roles that are different from their user types. You can also associate a user with more than one workflow role.
- Optional: Next to Clients, select the check boxes corresponding to the clients that you want to associate with the user.
- Optional: If necessary, specify values for any custom attributes that may have been defined.
- Select Save.
