Settings for attributes

A list of specific settings that you need to configure when adding or modifying custom attributes.

Certain WorldServer objects can have custom attributes. You can use attribute filters when searching or exporting translation memories or terminology databases, as well as in various translation tools.

You can select multiple object types for your attribute, so that the attribute can serve the same purpose in multiple WorldServer object types.

Applicable Object TypesSelect the check boxes corresponding to the types of WorldServer objects for which you are creating the custom attribute.
Internal (API) NameThe name that will be used in the API to retrieve the attribute from the object.
External (UI) NameThe name of the attribute that will be displayed on the user interface.
FlagsOptional. Available options are:
  • Hidden – The attribute is never displayed on the user interface. Only the API can access the attribute.
  • Read-only – The attribute cannot be changed on the user interface. Only the API can change the attribute.
  • Required – Users must include a value for the attribute when adding or modifying objects.
  • Include in Translation Kit – The attribute and its associated values are included when assets are exported to a translation kit. This option is available only if you select Project, TD Entry, TD Term, TM Entry, or Task as your object type.
Attribute TypeThe type of data allowed for the attribute. Available options are:
  • Attachment – One or more files of any type attached to the component.
  • Boolean – True or false.
  • Comment – Text that is logged, along with the author and the date of entry, is a record.
  • Date – A date.
  • HTML – HTML-encoded text that is relevant to the attribute.
  • Image – A graphic file associated with the attribute. For example, a .jpg file.
  • Integer – A positive integer.
  • Large Text Area – Text of unlimited length.
  • List – A list of attribute values. Users can change the list.
  • Multi-Selector – A set of predefined values from which users can select more than one value.
  • Selector – A set of predefined values from which users can select only one value.
  • Text Area – Text in a larger area.
  • Text Field – Text in a field.
  • URL – A uniform resource locator address and text description.
  • User – A WorldServer user.
Display OrderThe relative order in which this custom attribute is displayed on the user interface.
Default Value or Selector ValuesSpecify default values for the custom component, if necessary. Depending on the attribute type you select, you can choose default or selector values using the Browse button, text fields, drop-down lists, check boxes, selector lists, and buttons.
DescriptionA description of your custom attribute.
