Translation memory management

By using translation memories, translators can reuse previous translations, reducing translation time and effort and increasing consistency.

A translation memory (TM) is a file that contains text segments in the source language and translated versions of these text segments. Each pair of source and target segments is called a translation unit (TU). In a translation memory, the source segments are all in one language, but the target segments might be in multiple languages. Segments usually correspond to sentences.

In WorldServer, translation units are displayed as follows: A translation unit that consists of a source entry in English and a target entry in Chinese. You can configure the information that you want to see alongside translation units by selecting Choose Columns and moving the appropriate columns to the Visible Columns list.
