WorldServer for project managers
As a project manager, your main responsibility is to coordinate translation teams to make sure that you deliver quality translations on time and within budget.
- About projects, project groups, and tasks
A few definitions and images that might help you understand the difference between projects, project groups, and tasks. - First-time tasks for project managers
Before you start working with projects and tasks in WorldServer, you need to configure various objects such as workgroups, project types, cost models, file types or file type configurations. Configure them as soon as your WorldServer environment is up and running and update them whenever you need. - Creating and managing projects
As a project manager, you can control projects throughout their entire life cycle—from the moment you create them to the moment you complete or cancel them. - Managing tasks
As part of working with tasks in a project, you can change their attributes, their assignees, their due dates, and their priority. You can also move them to another existing project or include them in a new project. - Quotes and quote management
A quote is an estimation of the scope, timing, and cost of a potential translation project. - Online translation and review tools
In WorldServer, users can translate assets in two online tools: Browser Workbench and SDL Online Editor. - Available reports
WorldServer includes a number of reports that you can view on the Reports dashboard or in the Report Center. - Asset management in WorldServer Explorer
Use Explorer as an alternative way of adding files to projects, scoping assets, and creating projects. Most WorldServer users manage projects groups and projects from the Projects tab or from the Assignments tab. However, if you need to modify, translate, or export assets without creating a workflow or a project, you can do so in Explorer. - Term database management
A term database, also known as a terminology database or termbase, is an organized record of controlled vocabularies and, optionally, their standard translations. - Translation memory management
By using translation memories, translators can reuse previous translations, reducing translation time and effort and increasing consistency. - Notification messages and their content
Configure the content of WorldServer notification messages by going to Management > Administration > Notification Content. - Useful links
Useful links are URLs that are available to all users on the Home tab in WorldServer (on the Classic interface) and in WorldServer TransPort. - Configuring personal preferences
Your can configure a specific set of personal preferences for your account, which includes settings related to email notifications, the user interface, or translation memory matches. You can also change your password from your personal preferences. - Forgotten password recovery
In WorldServer, you can recover your password in one of the following ways, depending on the settings configured by your administrator: either by resetting your current password yourself or by asking your administrator to change your password through an email message.
