Translating files

Files are translated, reviewed and signed-off in the Editor view.

In the Editor view, you can:
  • See the source document text and the text translation displayed side by side in a single editing window.
  • Translate text by putting the cursor inside a target language segment and typing. Standard Word text editing functionality is available.
  • Consult text in WYSIWYG format, so you can see whether translation text formatting matches source text formatting.
  • Preview the translation at any time.
  • Use standard Windows keyboard and mouse shortcuts.
  • Continue to use SDLX and SDL Trados shortcut commands.
  • Use several standard translation memory functions which are automated.
  • Use the AutoSuggest tool, which provides translation suggestions.
  • Use QuickPlace to insert placeables from a source segment into a target segment.
  • Store regularly-used phrase translations for selection when needed.
  • Customize both the layout and functionality of the view.

When translation is complete, you can generate translated versions of the source documents. If you are working with project packages, you can place the translated files in a project package and send them to the next person who needs to see them.
