Content Manager functionality migration
Depending on the product version from which you are upgrading, you may be using deprecated Content Manager functionality. This section explains how to go about migrating to the new functionality, if you choose to do so.
- Migration to the new, Region-based Page design
Tridion Sites 9.1 deprecated the old, "flat" Page design in favor of a Region-based Page design. You can choose to continue using the deprecated feature, but because it may be dropped in the next release, we recommend that you migrate to the new functionality as soon as feasible. - Migration to the new Add-on feature
The Add-on feature, introduced in SDL Tridion Sites 9.1, lets you combine one or more extensions to the product to form an Add-on package, representing a complete functional addition to the product, called an Add-on. If you are upgrading, RWS recommends that you migrate your existing extensions into one or more such Add-on packages. - Migration to publishing framework that uses Topology Manager
SDL Web 8 Cumulative Update 1 deprecated an older publishing framework where you configured publishing targets in Content Manager and introduced a preferred framework where you configure publishing targets in Topology Manager. You can choose to continue using the deprecated feature, but because it may be dropped in the next release, you may want to migrate to the new functionality as soon as possible. - Modifying Schemas after an upgrade
As of SDL Tridion Sites 9.5, some Schema types have additional options for the templateless, data-only publishing framework, which enable you to select which content is publishable and searchable. Following an upgrade to 9.5 (or later), neither option is enabled by default, so you should review your schemas to determine where you need to change these settings. - Updating Templates and TBBs following an upgrade
If you are using the legacy, template-based publishing model, the upgrade process may require updating existing Templates and TBBs (Template Building Blocks).
