Step 1: Creating stub Categories in Content Manager

In order for an external taxonomy in Taxonomy Space to be available in Content Manager, it must be mapped to map to an External Category in Content Manager. The first step in this mapping process is to create a stub Category in Content Manager.

Before you begin

To create a Category, you must have Category Management rights.

About this task

Tridion Semantic AI uses Content Manager's External Content Library (ECL) feature to expose taxonomies and concepts stored in Taxonomy Space. ECL requires that you have existing stub Categories that you can map to the taxonomies. Each External Category relates to the highest level of a particular taxonomy, which in SKOs terminology is the concept scheme.

Procedure

  1. In Content Manager Explorer, open the Publication where you want to expose the external taxonomies.
  2. Under the Taxonomies node, prepare one or more stub Categories as follows:
    1. Create a new Category that corresponds to a concept scheme in Taxonomy Space.
Only Name and XML Name are required, but you can add as much information as you like.
    2. Click Save, but keep it open for now.
    3. Go to the Info tab and note the value of the Item URI field, such as tcm:1-10-512. You will need to add this information to your connector's configuration.
    4. Click Save and Close.
Repeat these steps for additional stub Categories, as needed.

What to do next

Proceed with the connector setup and create the JSON configuration file.
