Checking out objects for editing
While working in Authoring Bridge, you can check out an object from the repository and modify it in your authoring tool. Checking out an object provides you with write access to the object.
Before you begin
You must have permission to edit and store objects in the Content Manager repository.
Procedure
What to do next
- You cannot modify objects with a status of Released. If you select an object with a released status, the application prompts you to create a new version or new branch.
- If you check out an object that is in your local storage (same version and language), you are prompted to either open the object from the local storage or overwrite the object in local storage. If you choose the latter option, the object is downloaded from the repository and overwrites the file in your local storage.
- When you check out an object, an edit lock is placed on the object in the repository.
