Finding content
Content Manager provides a variety of mechanisms for finding content. You can browse the repository or use the search mechanism.
- Search Overview
You specify the search criteria by typing one or more search terms (the words or phrase that best describe the information you want to find) into a search field. You can use Boolean operators, quotes, wildcard characters, and/or choose valid data from a list in a field, or specify the type of data to be searched to construct the search criteria. You can also define the search criteria in terms of the objects' metadata (for example, version, language, author, status, and so on). - Search syntax and operators
When searching on multiple words, the search engine interprets the search text based on how it is constructed. Search results may be more precise if the criteria is quoted, or if you included Boolean operators. - Search for content
You can search for text, metadata, or XML tags in the files in the Repository. - Browsing the repository
You can browse through the contents of the Content Manager repository. From the repository you can view metadata information, preview the contents of objects, check out, create, or delete objects, search the repository, and access your inbox. - Searching for objects in the repository
You search for objects in the repository by typing one or more search terms (the words or phrase that best describe the information you want to find) into a search box then by clicking the Search button. The search mechanism searches both object-level metadata and full-text. - Locating objects returned by a repository search
If your search action in the repository results in a list of found objects, you can locate those objects in the repository.
