Defining an IRL

Perform these steps to define an IRL.

Before you begin

Before you define an IRL, ensure that you have added all the MNS codes you require. You also need to have created the program to which this IRL applies. See Adding S1000D Programs.

About this task

When you define an IRL for an S1000D program, you create just the Illustration Control Numbers (for example, ICN-BICYCLEXXXAAA-A-156001-A-78286-00028-A-01-1), not the object. You can opt to create graphics objects in Contenta now or return and create them later.

Procedure

  1. In Contenta S1000D, navigate to the desired Configuration object.
  2. Click Tools, then click S1000D Define DMRL and IRL.
  3. Select the program for the IRL you want to define.
  4. Click Define ICN Codes.
  5. In each of the list boxes, select one or more MNS codes.
You must select at least one SNS code to be able to generate the IRL.
  6. Optionally, to create the graphics objects in Contenta after the IRL is generated, do the following:
    1. Check Create ICN Object upon creation of code.
    2. In the Object Type drop-down list, select the graphic file type for the created objects.
See How Content is Organized in Contenta S1000D for information about the organization and hierarchy for storing the created objects.
  7. Click Define ICN Codes.
