Exporting a program's codes

This topic describes exporting a program's DM Codes and ICNs into a DMRL or CSV file.

About this task

When you export a program's codes, you create a DMRL file or a comma-separated value (CSV) file containing all the program's Data Module Codes and ICNs.
The markup in DMRL output files varies based on the program's S1000D issue. CSV output files have the same format whether they contain Issue 5.0 or later codes (which may include Information Name Variants), Issue 4.x codes (which may include Learn Codes or Learn Event Codes), or pre-4.0 codes. To export a subset of a program's codes, see Exporting a DMRL and Exporting an IRL.

Procedure

  1. In Contenta S1000D, navigate to the desired Configuration object.
  2. Click Tools, then click S1000D Manage Programs.
  3. Next to the program whose codes you want to export, select one of the following.
    • EXPORT CSV
    • EXPORT DMRL
If you select EXPORT DMRL, the tool displays the Export DMRL screen, containing a field corresponding to each element that will be added to the identAndStatusSection section (or dmlc/issno/issdate/security/datarest sections in pre-Issue 4.0) of the DMRL file.
  4. If you selected EXPORT DMRL in the previous step, add or edit the values to be added to the identAndStatusSection section of the DMRL as needed, and click Next.
You can modify any field in the Export DMRL screen, except Model Identifier, which is based on the program you selected in the previous step.
  5. Click DOWNLOAD to download the resulting DMRL or CSV file.
  6. Click Save to save the file to the local system.
After the file has been saved, you are presented with an option to Open Folder. This option locates the file which you can then view in a text editor.

Results

A downloaded DMRL file contains valid XML or SGML markup for the applicable S1000D Issue.

A downloaded CSV file contains data and headers describing it. Header information begins with a pound (#) character.

If they were previously uploaded, language and country codes are added to DMRL and CSV files exported from all CSDBs, including those that do not support multiple languages.
