Procedure

  1. Do one of the following.
    • In Arbortext Editor, select Contenta > Validate.
    • In Oxygen XML Author, select the Contenta S1000D toolbar Validate icon ().
See Validating References and BREX in the editor for information about running the Validate References tool.
  2. Under the Internal References tab in the Contenta S1000D Validate results window, double-click the reference to locate it.
    The reference is highlighted.
  3. To delete it, right click the reference, then click Cut or Delete Link Target.
  4. If the target is referenced, do one of the following:
    • To continue click Proceed with "cut" or Delete Target.

The next time you run Validate, the Status in the Internal References tab reports Missing. You can undo to restore the deleted data if necessary.

    • To cancel and find the links that will be broken before deleting the target, click Cancel "cut" or Cancel.
  5. Optionally, if you have cancelled the deletion, and want to find the links that would be broken, do the following:
    1. Note the Target ID (to be deleted) in the Internal References tab.
    2. In the editor, select Find > Tag/Attribute.
    3. In the Tag Name(s) field, type xref.
    4. In the Attribute Value field, type the Target ID.
    5. Select Find.
