Limitations when compiling brand entries
Brand entries have limitations in terms of: symbols, character count, and usage.
The limitations listed below should be taken into consideration when creating brand entries:
- Brand entries cannot contain the any of these symbols: &:< >.
- Each brand entry must be limited to 255 characters.
- Proper nouns should not be added to the list if they are completely identical to the common nouns that are in the data set to be translated.
- Before adding the proper noun to the brand list, make sure that the common noun is not part of the set that will be translated. Since the search function is not case sensitive, if the common word appears in the data set, this results in the common noun being treated as the brand included in the brand list.
- If a proper noun does have a translation in at least one of the languages the user needs to translate into, adding it to the brand list keeps the original form of the word throughout all the translations performed. In such a case, it is advisable to add the proper noun to the dictionary list together with its equivalent in the target language, to ensure that the right translation is used in the entire data set.
