Using the Language Weaver for Inbox app

Understand how Intercom visitors and agents interact with the Language Weaver for Inbox app.

Language Weaver for Inbox detects the language of visitors' messages automatically and translates to the agent's preferred language in real time.

Visitor view

When the visitor initiates the chat with an agent via the Intercom widget, they receive a message in English, notifying them that their language has been detected. The message also provides the visitor with instructions on how to change the language in case it is incorrectly detected. Once the visitor language has been set, the visitor will be able to send messages in their preferred language. Language Weaver for Inbox app will translate the visitor's outgoing messages into the agent's preferred language and vice versa.

Agent view

The agent will set their preferred language in the Language Weaver for Inbox section in the right sidebar. Once this is set, the incoming messages from visitors will be automatically translated into the preferred language.

To translate outgoing messages, the agent must create a private note starting with # character. This will trigger the Language Weaver for Inbox app functionality and the visitor will receive the translated reply nearly instantly.
