Configuring optimization mode for Translation Engines

Translation Engines support the Language Pairs (LPs) used during translation. To adapt the performance of Translation Engines to the translation volumes which can vary depending on the used LP, you can configure the mode of operation for your Translation Engines hardware.

About this task

The three available hardware optimization modes are: Auto-detect (GPU), CPU for Quality, CPU for Speed.

By default, a LP on a Translation Engine operates:
  • In GPU mode if a GPU is detected on the host where the LP is installed
  • In CPU mode optimized for Quality if no GPU is detected on the host where the LP is installed

Procedure

  1. Launch the Web GUI.
  2. Log in using a Language Weaver Edge administrator account.
  3. Select Manage > Deployment > Hosts.
  4. In the upper-right corner, select Edit.
  5. Under the Translation Engines column, identify the Host you are adding a Translation Engine to. Select Add under the Translation Engines column (and Host row) you identified previously.
  6. Select source and target languages under Language Pair.
  7. Under Mode, select one of the optimization modes: Auto-detect (GPU by default), CPU - quality optimized, CPU - speed optimized.
  8. Select Add.
