Importing terms into a dictionary

Importing terms from an external file into an existing dictionary.

About this task

Importing terms into a dictionary is a quick way to populate it using an external file that may have in turn been exported from another tool, like a translation or terminology tool.

You can import .xml, MultiTerm .xml and .xlsx (Microsoft Excel) files with a maximum size of 100 MB.

To achieve a successful import, make sure that the external file has the correct structure. For this, you can add a term to the dictionary, then export the dictionary, and use the exported file as a template for the external file that you will import.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Language Weaver Edge using a valid account.
  2. Select the Dictionaries tab at the top.
  3. Select the dictionary where you want to import the terms from an external file.
  4. Select Import Terms.
    The Import Terms opens.
  5. Select Choose File.
  6. Locate the file that you want to import and select Open to upload it.
  7. Select Import to start the import process.
The terms in the external file are added to the dictionary.
