Configuring search
You can configure search categories and advanced search options.
- Configuring the search index location
Edit the wietmsd_prg.xml file, setting the value of theapp.copy_index_colloctionconfigitem to 1 to allow search to access the index for users without read/write permissions for the collections folder. - Configuring search categories for a publication
You can configure up to 16 search categories in a publication. These categories appear in the Categorical Search area of the Search dialog. LiveContent S1000D ships with 16 predefined categories. RWS Professional Services can create custom search categories for you, but the total number of available search categories in LiveContent S1000D cannot exceed 16. - Disabling the display of search excerpts in full-text search
By default, full-text search shows some words around the keyword as found in each document so that the user can see the context of how the keyword is used. You can disable this feature as a possible performance optimization. - Disabling searches for exact phrases
By default, users performing a full-text search can search for an exact phrase by enclosing the phrase in quotation marks. For example,"chop suey"returns only search results containing those two words in that order. Users can also useANDandORin combination with phrases. You can disable this feature as a possible search performance optimization. - Disabling search filtering by applicability
By default, end users can filter their search by applicability. You can disable this setting. - Configuring the maximum number of search matches
If you do not use Contenta S1000D, configure the maximum number of matches for categorical and/or full-text searches in LiveContent S1000D. The default for both settings, if left unspecified, is 1000. If you use Contenta S1000D, configure these settings in Contenta S1000D. - Configuring the display of search results
You can specify parameters that segment search results into multiple subsets. Called search pagination, this limits the number of search results displayed to make it easier to focus on them. You can also configure the size of a search results subset. An administrator can specify the parameters in LiveContent S1000D or in Contenta S1000D.
