Publication lifecycle
Creating and distributing a LiveContent S1000D publication is not a one-time event. Throughout the lifecycle of the publication, you periodically publish and distribute new data to ensure that your users have the most up-to-date content and the newest version of the application.
On the publishing server, a publication is added to one or more collections for review and approval. When it is ready for distribution, the collection and all the required data are built into a CD image. This CD image may have one or more publication on it. Once you have distributed it into the field, you have begun the lifecycle of its publication(s).
Creating a CD image establishes a unique identifier for the CD, which remains the same with revisions. That is, to provide revisions to the delivered CD image, the next time you revise and publish the CD image, you use the same unique identifier. This identifier acts as a key that holds each publishing event together to create a publication's, and a CD image's, lifecycle.
