Sharing illustrations, multimedia, and other media types
You can share (reuse) media assets within your IETP.
You can specify the ietm.figure_folder_control.publication_name configuration option to share (reuse) figures, multimedia, and other media types across multiple IETPs by defining and referencing multiple figures folders in your IETP's publication folder. To reuse assets contained in multiple folders, add this configuration option to the /wietm/configuration/ietm element in the wietmsd_prg.xml file, specifying as its value the paths to the folders containing assets to be shared. For example, to enable the publication s1000d_bike_40 to use assets stored in the folders s1000d_bike_30/figures and s1000d_bike_41/figures, edit the wietmsd_prg.xml file as follows.
<configitem name="ietm.figure_folder_control.s1000d_bike_40">
<value>
s1000d_bike_30/figures,
s1000d_bike_41/figures
</value>
</configitem>
By default, at Publish time, the system first looks for media assets in the publication's figures folders, and then in the figures folders specified by the ietm.figure_folder_control configuration item.
The following markup must be included in the configuration file for each publication containing the assets to be shared.
<configitem name="ietm.figure_folder_control">
<value>
figures1,
figures2
</value>
</configitem>
In this example, figures1 and figures2 are the folders within the publication in which the shared assets are stored.
After making these edits to the wietmsd_prg.xml and publication configuration files, you must republish all the publications in the collection for the changes to take effect.
