Publishing
Publishing a publication consists of generating it and then distributing it.
- Using the LiveContent S1000D Publish tool (Windows only)
On Windows systems, the LiveContent S1000D Publish tool provides a user interface in which you can generate and manage IETPs and packages in which to distribute them. - Generating a publication from a CSDB
You can generate a publication by setting up an automated process within a CSDB. Contenta S1000D has already been integrated with LiveContent S1000D Publishing Server; other systems can also be supported through integration. - Generating a publication from the command line
If you do not have a CSDB, use the command line tool to generate a publication. You can only do this if the LiveContent S1000D Publishing Server is not running locally, and if you have a publication configuration file. You must generate a publication at least once before you can incrementally update it. - Configuring parameters for segmenting large tables
Large tables are segmented to make them easier to navigate and view. - Viewing a publication in LiveContent S1000D
To view a publication, add it to a LiveContent S1000D collection. A collection consists of one or more publications, associated with a set of presentation templates. Presentation templates define the look & feel of the collection: for example, XSL styles that create HTML and PDF output for the user, skins that brand the viewer, and menus that a user can access. - Packaging content for delivery on CD/DVD-ROM
To distribute a collection containing a generated set of publications into the field, use LiveContent S1000D's Collection Publish tool. This tool prepares a package of a collection, the required libraries, the program files and an installer. It stores the package in a target directory so that you can burn it onto a CD/DVD-ROM.
