Backing up termbases

Back up termbases to keep your data secure at all times. Backing up termbases means saving the termbase structure and termbase data from MultiTerm.

About this task

There are two available options:
  • Make a copy of the termbase (termbase name) *.sdltb file. If the original termbase then gets corrupted, you can use this as a backup.
  • Save the termbase structure and termbase data into separated files that can be used to recreate the termbase.

Procedure

  1. Open your termbase via File > Open Termbase.
  2. Open the Termbase Management view and, under the termbase name, right-click Definition and select Save.
  3. Enter your file name and save this file as an .XDT file.
  4. In the Termbase Management view, select Export under the termbase name.
  5. Select the export definition you require. If you are making a complete backup, you can use the default export definition.
  6. Go to Home > Process from the Ribbon. This calls up the Export Wizard.
  7. Select Save As and enter a file name for your export file. Once this is saved, the file path will be displayed in the Export Wizard.
  8. Select Next and the export process will begin.
Once this is complete, you will have saved the export definition and the exported termbase data and you can use these two files if ever you need to recreate the termbase.
