Settings templates
Using settings templates reduces the amount of time and effort necessary for creating the right environment to work with certain termbase projects. The settings template can be exported from one MultiTerm instance and imported to another.
The settings template remembers all open termbases (for the server termbases, the template remembers the server address) and the active termbase. For each of the termbases it stores the following information:
- Source language
- Target language
- Active filter
- Filter mode
- Active input model
- Active layout
As a terminologist, you can send a settings template alongside with the termbase to a translator who needs to work in a certain environment. For example, if you need your termbase expanded with German entries, you can create a setting template with German as a target language, with an active filter for "IT" and "Telecom" terms, and with an active input model containing the fields you require for your term entries.
Settings templates can also prove time-saving for users who want to quickly set up the MultiTerm environment depending on the project they are working on. The settings template is exported as a *.sdlmttpl file that works as an executable, so you can launch MultiTerm with your desired settings only by double-clicking it.
