Views

The MultiTerm functionality is accessed through views. Each view is dedicated to a particular area of working with terminology.

The available views are:
  • Terms: Allows you to work with terms and termbase entries.
  • Termbase Management: Allows you to work with termbases and termbase objects.

General layout for all views

The Ribbon containing all the MultiTerm commands are at the top of the view; the navigation pane is on the left and the work/entry pane is on the right.

Views have the same general layout:
  • 1 = Ribbon
  • 2 = Navigation Pane
  • 3 = Navigation Pane Buttons
  • 4 = Work\Entry Pane

Terms view

The Terms view is where you work with terms and termbase entries.

The Terms view consists of:
  • 1 = Menus
  • 2 = Navigation Pane which contains three separate tabs:
    • Browse - where you browse through the terms in the default termbase and display and edit termbase entries.
    • Hitlist - where you work with termbase search results
    • Termbases - where you open termbases, view the list of open termbases, set the default termbase and exclude termbases from searches.
  • 3 = Navigation Pane Buttons
  • 4 = Entry Pane where termbase entries are displayed and edited.

When you select a term from the Browse tab or the Hitlist tab, the termbase entry that contains the term is displayed in the Entry pane.

When you open a new termbase entry, it replaces the one that is currently displayed.

To open a new entry without closing the currently displayed entry, press [CTRL] and then select the term in the Browse tab or the Hitlist tab.

Termbase Management view

The Termbase Management view is where you create and manage termbases, termbase objects and termbase data.

The Terms view consists of:
  • 1 = Ribbon
  • 2 = Navigation Pane which contains a termbase navigation tree.

Each branch in the tree represents a termbase that is currently open. The termbase object types are listed under each termbase branch. Select an object type from the tree and the available objects of that type are displayed in the work pane.

  • 3 = Navigation Pane Buttons
  • 4 = Work Pane

In the navigation tree, under a termbase name, select a type of termbase object and the objects which are available for the termbase, are listed in the work pane.

Right-click an object in the work pane to see the shortcut menu of options available for working with termbase objects.

A check mark in the Current column indicates that this is the active object.
