Configuring a multi-user automated deployment
If you are a system administrator, you can deploy a standard configuration of MultiTerm Widget to multiple users, including a pre-defined selection of termbases and login credentials.
About this task
There are two parts to this process:
- Preparation - Installing the widget on a test machine and configuring as required.
- Deployment - Duplicating the configuration files created in step 1 to the user accounts for each user/machine you wish to configure.
Procedure
- Perform the preparation stage:
- Install MultiTerm Widget on a test machine.
- Connect to the MultiTerm server(s) you want in the standard configuration, using the appropriate login credentials, and select the termbases required. At this point, you can also change the default number of results shown, the shortcut keys and the default languages.
- Close the MultiTerm Widget.
- Locate the WidgetSettings.xml file under AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\WidgetSettings.xml. So for example: C:\User\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\WidgetSettings.xml.
- Locate the credentials file(s). There will be one for each server you connected to in step 1. You can locate it under: AppData\Local\Sdl\Platform\Identity\Sdl.MultiTerm.Widget.Application.exe\SdlIdentityCredentials. For example:C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Sdl\Platform\Identity\Sdl.MultiTerm.Widget.Application.exe\SdlIdentityCredentials.
- Perform the deployment stage:
- Install the widget onto machines as required.
- For each user, copy the WidgetSettings.xml file and the credentials file(s) to the appropriate folders in their profile.
- The widget picks up the settings when it is next started.
