Termbases from earlier versions of MultiTerm

Termbases from earlier versions of MultiTerm have various compatibility levels to the current MultiTerm version.

MultiTerm 2009, 2011 and 2014 Termbases

Termbases created in MultiTerm 2009, MultiTerm 2011 and MultiTerm 2014 are completely compatible with termbases created in MultiTerm 2024 Desktop.

Older termbases

Termbases that have been created in MultiTerm 6.x to MultiTerm 2007 are supported and can be opened directly in MultiTerm Desktop 2015.

Server-based termbases have to be converted using an upgrade wizard. The upgrade process, including the wizard, is described in the Trados GroupShare Installation Guide

You can continue to use older termbases by converting them to MultiTerm XML format using MultiTerm Convert.

Existing Termbase (Catalog) Objects

For both local and server-based termbases, some of your existing termbase objects may still be usable in MultiTerm 2014. MultiTerm automatically checks the usability of termbase objects and gives each one a usability status.

The status is indicated by an icon when the object is displayed in the Termbase Management view.

StatusDescription

The object cannot be used in MultiTerm 2024 Desktop.

The object can be converted for use in MultiTerm 2024 Desktop. To convert the object:

  • Right-click the object and select Edit from the context menu. The wizard appropriate to the object is launched.
  • Complete the wizard. When you finish the wizard, the object is converted and the warning icon is removed.

Objects which you can use immediately, without taking any special action on them, have no icon.
