Entry classes for server-based termbases

Entry classes are created in the server environment and allow you to limit access to entries in a termbase. Entry classes are termbase-specific.

Every entry in a server-based termbase has an entry class. You can assign different entry classes to termbase entries from MultiTerm Desktop or from another MultiTerm component, and then assign different access levels from MultiTerm Administrator.

Access rights to entries with entry classes assigned are specified through MultiTerm restrictions. For example a role might have read access to entries of one class, and read/write access to entries of a different class.

MultiTerm has three predefined entry classes:

  • Unspecified
  • Public
  • Internal

By default, MultiTerm uses the Unspecified entry class for entries to which you do not assign an entry class. You can change the default entry class for a termbase or you can create new entry classes from MultiTerm Administrator.
