You can edit a publication’s map directly from within the Publication Manager interface, but you must first check out the map. After editing a map, you can check in the map to save the changes in the repository.
Procedure
To check out a map, in the publication tree, right-click on the map then click Check Out....
Checking out an object provides you with write access to the object. A red open lock icon appears on the object to indicate it is checked out.
You can move, add or delete topics, or you can modify the rows and columns in an existing reltable.
Note: To edit a map's XML in your authoring tool, you can check out the map in the authoring tool. Right-click on the map, then click Check Out With...A standard Windows pop-up screen opens and lets you make a choice to open with your preferred local XML editor.
To check in the edited map, right-click on the, then from the shortcut menu, select Check In.
The map is updated in the repository and the lock is removed.
