Creating the publication baseline
The baseline from which to publish establishes the versions of the objects to use, the languages to publish, and the conditions to use.
- Baselines
The baseline of a publication identifies all objects in the publication by their GUID and version. - Autocompleting the baseline
You must assign a version to use for each object (e.g. topic, map, illustration) that your publication references. The Autocomplete feature fills in the gaps by finding appropriate versions for objects in the whole publication. A background Autocomplete is running in the background when the publication is loaded as well as each time the publication is changed. A manual Autocomplete can be triggered from the user interface at any time. The latter is the one you can set easily when working on your publication. - Selecting the Object Versions to Use
You must select the version to use for each topic, map, and library that your publication references. The default is the latest version but you can include an older version of an object when necessary. Versions do not have to match within the publication; you can use version 3 which may be latest version of one object, and use version 1 which may be an older version of another object . - Verifying if a newer version exists
From the Publication Manager, you can see whether a newer version for the objects used in your publication are available. - Freezing the baseline
Once all of the content is released, you can freeze the baseline of a publication. You only freeze a publication when no additional changes are needed to the contents. By freezing a baseline, it is always possible to know which version of each object was used for the publication. Note that releasing a publication output also freezes the publication's baseline. - Renaming a baseline
The name you give to the baseline name is used to populate the Baseline label property for all objects when a baseline is frozen or a publication is released. - Making a baseline inactive
If a baseline is no longer needed for publishing or auto-completing, it is possible to set the baseline to inactive. As a result, this baseline does not appear in the list of available baselines. - Cleaning up the baseline
You must select the version to use for each topic, map, and library that your publication references. You can use Clean Up to remove all objects from the baseline that are not used anymore.
