Archive Manager Explorer

Archive Manager enables you to create a historical record of all changes made to your Web site. It archives Content Manager content that is published to, or unpublished from, a Web site. The Archive Manager stores the archived Web site in a database (the Archiver database). Archive Manager Explorer is the interface to the Archiver database.

Use Archive Manager Explorer to view Web pages in a Web site exactly as they were viewed by a user on a specific date, and to navigate and browse through the Web site the same way as when the site was live. Using the Archive Manager Explorer you can view Web pages, images, flash files, and embedded resources such as a .wav file playing in a Web page directly, and view other files or documents by downloading them.

Archive Manager Explorer provides the following functionality:

  • Go To — in the Go To tab you can retrieve and view a record by entering its specific URL. You can also enter a date to view the Web page as it was on a particular day. It presents the following detailed view of a record:
    • History View — shows the historical order in which changes were made.
    • Artifacts View — shows Web site items in their original Content Manager granularity, allowing you to associate those items with corresponding Content Manager items.
    • Profiles View — contains a visitor’s personalized experience of a Web site, based on the visitor’s user profile.
  • Search — in the Search To tab you can define various search criteria for performing a search query against the Archiver database. For example, you can enter a date range or search for resources contained in a particular section of the Web site. The results of the query are presented as links which you click to view the resource. You can then switch to the Go To tab to view its details.
