Artifacts
The Artifacts view shows the main Content Manager items that were used to compose the Page, identified by their Content Manager IDs (TCM IDs). You can click an artifact to open the Content Manager item in a browser window.
The following image shows the Artifacts View:
The Artifacts view provides a link between published content that is displayed in the Web site, and source content as it is stored in Content Manager of SDL Tridion. The principal Content Manager items that are used to compose a Page are:
- Pages — contain Component Presentations that are the combination of content (Components) and layout (Component Templates). A Page typically contains one or more Component Presentations.
- Components—defines content used on a published Page
- Component Templates— determines the look and feel of the Component, and the fields of the Component that are displayed
The Artifacts view also shows the following information:
- Publication — a Publication provides an organizational structure, a security model, and content creation functionality. These capabilities enable you to create, assemble, and publish content. You can click an Artifact to view the item in the Content Manager.
- Transaction ID — when a Publish action occurs, the Content Manager packages the content in a so-called Transport Package which is passed to Content Delivery which handles and processes the content and takes care of the actual publication to a Web site. The Transaction ID shows the ID of the Transport Package.
